Isle of Mull

Charming, Picturesque Ports, Wildlife haven

With many miles of coastline, fantastic sandy beaches and just 45 minutes from Oban by ferry, Mull is a charming island. Tobermory is the main port with its brightly painted houses, speciality shops, excellent waterfront bars and restaurants – many with an emphasis on local seafood – and a Scotch distillery producing both peated and un-peated malt whisky.

There is no shortage of premium artisan food makers here with everything from award-winning smoked salmon to delicious cheese of global reputation. You’ll taste the heart and soul of these food heroes in the dishes and products served up in restaurants or when enjoying one of our unique, behind-the-scenes visits. (In a world of if’s ‘not what you know but who you know’ Tasting Scotland has you covered!).

Mull is also home to an array of talented artists with their studios open to visit and a weaver producing tweed from a flock of native Hebridean sheep. Wildlife including Whales, dolphins, seals, porpoises, corncrakes and the successfully reintroduced White-tailed Eagle or Sea Eagle can all be spotted around Mull. Land-based wildlife and walking trips or boat trips with expert private guides can all be arranged. Fingal’s Cave on Staffa, Iona and more are just a short distance away.
