Established in 2002, the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park, is the first of Scotland’s national parks and the fourth largest in the British Isles. Whatever the season it offers a feast for the eyes. Loch Lomond is perfect for a day trip from Glasgow or Edinburgh or as a stop on one of our multi-day tours. The conservation village of Luss is one of our favourites.
From the pier see Ben Lomond; Scotland’s most southerly Munro, a favourite of walkers and hikers. There are plenty of short, gentle walks here too. Breathe in the fresh Scottish air, take a dip in the water or enjoy a loch cruise. And if you’re peckish we can recommend a fabulous traditional pub nearby… of course!
At the heart of The Trossachs is Loch Katrine the inspiration for Sir Walter Scott’s famous 19th Century poem The Lady on the Lake, complete with a paddle steamer still going since 1899. Callander has one of the very best bakeries in Scotland so we’ve been known to stop off here to ahem….refuel! A walk, a shop and a Scotch Pie in no particular order, but only if it pleases you of course!
